Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was finding a keyboard within her loft and being captivated by its music. Parents May-Britt and Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to pursue music not as a career or hobby but for growth. She began to write her own compositions. Like Bjork She also cites Leonard Cohen as an influence. Her mother urged her to play her songs in public, not in order to achieve fame, but rather to inspire others to realize just how important the music they compose and what they could do to improve the world. Her first piano lessons began at age six and making music at the age of nine. Her family didn't hear about her musical journey until she was fourteen. Aurora was not a dream of her childhood. As she says, she simply enjoys writing songs. She believes that music is the ideal way to be able to feel everything.
